On 25 October, Professor Miro Cerar, PhD, a Regional Dialogue Law Specialist, Professor of Law at the University of Ljubljana, and former Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, visited UWED and delivered a fascinating lecture on various aspects of the European Union as a model of international integration. During the lecture, attended by over 50 students and professors, Professor Cerar shed light on valuable lessons that can be drawn from the European Union, especially in the context of global governance. One of many key takeaways from the lecture was encapsulated by the following quote by Professor Cerar: “The European Union's experience in building a complex system of supranational governance, while respecting the sovereignty of member states, democratic values and rule of law is one of the main lessons for global governance.”
“Constitution contains the most important political, legal, and other values of society,” was one of the insights shared on 26 October by Professor Miro Cerar, PhD, a Regional Dialogue Law Specialist, Professor of Law at the University of Ljubljana, and former Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, at Tashkent State University for Oriental Studies. The event brought together students and professors from the university, enabling them to enrich their understanding of the New Constitutional Framework and the potential directions of Uzbekistan's Foreign Policy. “Foreign policy is to a large extent an extension of domestic policy,” was an important takeaway, with Professor Cerar also amplifying the importance of ethical values in a democratic society by saying: “Human being is put in the center of Uzbekistan's Constitution, the most important constitutional value is to protect human dignity.”
